ARC Review: Just in Time, Valentine by Natalie-Nicole Bates

Received a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

3 Stars

Like: I liked Bronwyn's comeuppance.

Dislike: Romance felt shallow. Little prosy for me. Heroine was judgemental.

Recommendation: I expected something different based on the blurb.

Let’s talk about Hookers…

Yeah, yeah…I know where your mind just went but no, today we’re talking about the position of Hooker in a rugby team. The hero of the first in my Strathstow Sharks series, Tom Sexton, is the hooker for the team and like most of us, he has a few insecurities about his appearance (Hookers tend to be a fairly distinct body-type, they tend to be smaller in height, very powerfully built and a with a strong neck/shoulders. Plus they’re very often at the bottom of every bit of trouble there is on the pitch).
So, let’s talk about what a hooker does. They’re a specialist front row position who play a vital role in scrums and lineouts. In a scrum (when half of each team get together and basically shove into each other. The players pack together, heads down and try and win possession of the ball when it’s put into the middle. See b/w image below for an idea.) the hooker is right there at the front, between the two props. His job is to gain possession of the ball with his feet, to ‘hook’ it back through the scrum to emerge at the back.
For the rest of the game, the hookers throw-in in lineouts and carry the ball toward the opposing goal-line, often under relentless and fierce tackling from the other team, to make ground and tire out the opposition (as in wear the other guys out by continually getting up to run again).
Pop over to Amazon for FREE preview of HITTING ON THE HOOKER and be sure to follow the next stop on the tour for an in-depth look at the SWEET TALKING THE SCRUM-HALF.

Hitting on the Hooker
Purchase: Amazon | Barnes & Noble

Fern Morgan is done with men. For tonight anyway. Stood up and annoyed, she doesn’t fancy hanging around when the bar is crashed by local rugby team, the Strathstow Sharks. But her escape plans are halted by a cute blond player with a killer smile and a muscled body to die for…

Tom Sexton is the team’s Mr.Sensible. The guy who keeps an eye out for the rest and makes sure everyone gets home at the end of the night. But one look at the curvy little brunette trying to make a break for it and all his predatory instincts go into overdrive. Tom’s done being Mr.Sensible…

The problem is, once he has her in his bed, will he ever want to let her go?

Purchase: Amazon
Synopsis: Never mix business with pleasure...

A physical therapist for successful Rugby team, the Strathstow Sharks, Ashley's golden rule is never to mix business and pleasure. She loves her job and the guys she looks after, and doesn't want to jeopardise her place with the team. As nicely put together as her charges are, she's never found herself remotely tempted.
Until now.

Harry James, the team's newest prop gives her butterflies in her stomach every time she has to treat him, and her fantasies involving his hard, muscled body and sinful lips keep her hot and bothered at night. Luckily, he shows no sign of having noticed her attraction, and hasn't shown any interest in her...
She's been his from the moment he saw her...

Harry James marked the pretty little physio the first day they met. For the last year he's been biding his time, and trying to get her attention. So much so, it's gained him a few nicknames in the squad. Not that anyone would dare tell her.

When the Sharks win big on Harry's birthday, can he stop at claiming a birthday kiss, or will he want everything she has to give?

The hero seems lighthearted but is a dirty talking tease. He's the perfect mix of alpha and sweetheart. It's really hard to remember that these guys are young and in their prime. Sometimes they do something immature and it makes you step back and think.
Recommendation: A perfect mix of white knight and brutal bad boy.

About Mina Carter

Mina was born and raised in the East Farthing of Middle Earth (otherwise known as the Midlands, England) and spent her childhood learning all the sorts of things generally required of a professional adventurer. Able to ride, box, shoot, make and read maps, make chainmail and use a broadsword (with varying degrees of efficiency) she was disgusted to find that adventuring is not considered a suitable occupation these days.

So, instead of slaying dragons and hunting vampires and the like, Mina spends her days writing about hot shifters, government conspiracies and vampire lords with more than their fair share of RAWR. Turns out wanna-be adventurers have quite the turn of imagination after all…

My Review:

Received a copy of this book via NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.

5 out of 5 Stars

This was an emotional read, so many ups and downs. I was torn between laughing and crying. I love that she finds a way to work through her demons. Losing someone is painful and each of us cope our different ways. Slowly but surely she was lead through the knowledge she needed in order to come to grips with the trauma. There were many funny parts, such as how goofy the pilots are and the immunization shots. I love what they named her. The drama about their involvement and differing stations impacted the story but it was mostly about her and her journey towards acceptance and moving past her grief. I love her relationship with Ash. It was a bit hard to figure out in the beginning, would Ash take her from Duke or what did he have to teach her? I'm hoping for Lyric to get a book too.

Recommendation: A Must Read! If you love military romance or even just emotional reads, definitely pick this one up.

Rise of the Royal Elven by Jessica Anderson

Received a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.
3 out of 5 Stars

What did I like?
It went through five generations of marriages.

What did I not like?
I felt there was too much narration and not enough action. It felt like a cliffhanger ending.

Recommendation: I would have liked it better as individual books. Still a good read.

3013: Mended (3013 Series 6) by Kali Argent

Received an ARC of this book in exchange for an honest review.

5 out of 5 Stars

What did I like?
Her father had the best of intentions, even though grief makes people do dumb things. Her brother was kind enough to get her out but his plan to do so was not a good one. I love the heroine's attitude. Glad she got the HEA without the traditional triad mating (I think that would have caused too many bad memories to surface). I love the hero's protectiveness and sensitivity.

What did I not like?
The brother's plan to get her out brought up bad memories and could have re-traumatized her. Her father shouldn't have hidden her away/declared her dead, even as a way to keep her safe.

Recommendation: Loving this series. Can't wait for more.

  • last ditch flanking action, at least she knows what she is up against
  • HFN
Her Wish, His Command by Malia Mallory
4 out of 5 Stars
  • suspenseful
  • interesting that he is naturally dominant but doesn't feel comfortable being a Dom nor is it a preference
  • even without trying he gives her the domination she needs in the bedroom

Truthful Silence by Cecile Tellier

I won a copy of this book in a giveaway.

 5 out of 5 Stars

I like that they were able to reunite their family. I'm glad that it all worked out between the siblings. The reunion between her friend and brother was quick. Eric is a stupid overprotective, alpha male idiot, which is why we love him. The loss of contact was disheartening and I'm glad she moved for her too, not just to be near Eric.

Recommendation: New Adult isn't a genre I normally read but this was a good, emotional read.

Do You Take this Cat? (Wind River Pack 4) by Missy Martine

I won this book in a giveaway.

3 out of 5 Stars

What did I like?
Ray eventually redeemed himself.

What did I not like?
I don't like the way people are pushing and judging Rennia. How is what she did any different from the guy who doesn't tell his lady he's a shifter right away.

Recommendation: I'm hoping they save the girl (wonder if she's the non-shifting sister who is possible mate to Ayden and Colton). Looking forward to the next book.

The Touch of Her Hands (Wind River Pack 3) by Missy Martine

I won this book in a giveaway.

5 out of 5 Stars

What did I like?
I love that she is able to heal the children but that is gonna be a lot of work, protecting her both from the world and herself.

What did I not like?
Lyssa is going to be a problem. It sucks that Zack had to believe she died.

Recommendation: Good read.

An Officer and Two Gentlemen (Wind River Pack 2) by Missy Martine

I won this book in a giveaway.

4 out of 5 Stars

What did I like?
I love Fluffy's name.  Their family loves them, no reason they couldn't have been mates, but all things happen at their own time and place.

What did I not like?
The brother, Ray, is an idiot.

Recommendation: Other than wanting to smack Ray for being so ungrateful and an ass, this was a great read.

Blind Acceptance (Wind River Pack 1) by Missy Martine

I won this book in a giveaway.

5  out of 5 Stars

What did I like?
I like that though the heroine has an obvious handicap it doesn't stop or even slow her down. I like that the heroes make time for her individually as well as working on their group dynamic. I love how they suggest ways to help her (paperwork in braille) rather than try to take over, they let her learn her way.

Recommendation: Loved it!

Clothing the Naked Sheriff (Celestial Nights 1) by Rebecca Joyce

I won this book in a giveaway.

5 out of 5 Stars

What did I like?
This is a new one for me. I love the over-the-topness of the whole story. The overblown and sheer craziness kept me intrigued and entertained throughout the story.

Recommendation: The ending is a twist and I loved it. Definitely planning on getting more in this series.

Spotlight & ARC Review: Curves 'em Right (Paranormal Dating Agency 4) by Milly Taiden

Blurb:
Paranormal Dating Agency Book 4 - STANDALONE
BBW Paranormal Shape Shifter Romance
A BBW in search of love + two sexy wolf shifters ready to claim her as their mate = Sizzling Ménage Romance

Daniella Flores is looking for a good man. A man who will accept her as she is and go crazy for her curves. So far she’s had no luck in the romance department and is worried she might never find the right one. When Mrs. Wilder of the PDA offers to help, Dani is all for trying anything. Mrs. Wilder promises to find her love, romance and hot sex. What woman in her right mind would say no to that?

Kane and Blake have been searching for a mate to complete their Alpha triad. There’s just one problem: they’ve yet to find a woman they both want. Not to worry, Kane’s mother comes to the rescue and brings in the PDA. Unfortunately for them, Mrs. Wilder has something up her sleeve and it’s not a bra. When they meet their mysterious date, they know she’s the woman they need.

A masquerade ball brings Dani and the shifters together. The two men who are really good friends with Dani’s overprotective older brother. She’ll get one chance to finally live the fantasy night she’s always wanted with the wild wolves. Besides, it’s not like they could really want her for a mate. It will take some maneuvering for Kane and Blake to keep Dani, not lose their friend and their pack, and prove her curves are the only ones they want.

Reader Warning: This book contains panty-melting sex (the kind that makes you need fudge and a cold shower), adult language (we like some freaky dirty talk), and violence. If this is not the kind of stuff you like to read, skip this book. However, if you like dirty, raunchy sex with two men on one curvy sarcastic girl, then this is right up your alley.

Enjoy!

Excerpt:
“May I ask, are you averse to multiples?”
Say what? “I’m sorry what do you mean? Multiple what? Dates?”
“Multiple men. I’m not sure if you are aware, but some shifter packs have what’s called a Triad. That means two leaders need a female to complete their Alpha set and lead the pack. Together. They mate together and they sleep together. Almost all the time.”
She raised her brows in surprise. “You mean like a ménage but forever?”
“Yeah. Happily ménage ever after.”
“Well, shit. Count me in. I don’t care if you can get me one, two, or a whole pack of men who want me. As long as they genuinely want to be with me and are not just doing it out of some duty to help out the fat girl.”
“My clients are not that kind. They’re aggressive. Possessive. Jealous. They love their women because of their curves, not despite them. And they will show it.”

My Review:
I received a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

5 out of 5 Stars

What did I like?
I love the best friend's sibling trope so this already had brownie points with me. I love the reactions when the sibling finds out, usually with some big blow out (brother usually acts first and thinks later). Gerri is deliciously devious in this one, especially since she doesn't know their history. I loved watching the alpha pair eat their words.

What did I not like?
I think that her co-workers are terrible. She is much too nice to put up with that.

Recommendation: I love this series. There hasn't been one that I didn't want to read and re-read and this one is no exception.

ARC: Tempting Boundaries (Montgomery Ink 2) by Carrie Ann Ryan

I was given this book in exchange for an honest review.

5 out of 5 Stars

What did I like?
I liked that Sierra tore into Griffin for his quick trigger temper. The hero and heroine have a long way to go. It is going to take a lot of work and forgiveness to make this work. Having a relationship when the players are that tight is difficult and this story definitely shows that reality.

What did I not like?
I hope that police officer gets fired, that was completely unprofessional and absolutely a jack bottom move.

Recommendation: I'm hopeful that Alex's story is coming.

Received a copy of this book via NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.

5 out of 5 Stars

What did I like?
This story was suspenseful and the story kept me intrigued. I didn't want the story to end.

What did I not like?
Hope Ethan can move on and find love. Daniel was super creepy.

Recommendation: Looking forward to more in this series. Hoping to see Will & Faith's story in the future.
