Beyond Jealousy Blog Tour

 Amazon.com Amazon.ca Kobo ARe Barnes&Noble Smashwords add-to-goodreads-button31

She’s been looking for the perfect man. She found two.
When Rachel Riley sacrificed a life in Eden to protect the O’Kanes, she earned her place in the powerful Sector Four gang. But the former crime princess is tired of being everyone’s sweet little sister . It’s time for her to get wild, to embrace her fantasies as only an O’Kane can—with a delicious exiled soldier and the gang’s wickedly sinful tattoo artist.

A saint...
Lorenzo Cruz is a warrior, taught by his commanding officers in Eden that involvement equals distraction. Emotion is a liability, and desire a sin.  In Sector Four, he finds decadence, shameless sex—and his own dark urges. No battle strategy prepared him for how Rachel makes his heart race…or the way his rival for her affections sets his blood on fire.

...and a sinner.
Ace Santana has a dirty reputation and a mind to match, especially where his new lovers are concerned.  He’s eager to help Cruz embrace his dominant side, and to explore the lines between pleasure and pain with Rachel. But corrupting them quickly becomes an obsession, a need he can’t deny—and a love he never imagined.

Three hearts on the line means a hundred ways their ménage a trois could go wrong. After all, even O’Kanes do forever two-by-two.  One of them could be the missing piece that makes them all whole…or a temporary diversion destined for a broken heart.

I received a ARC of this book.

It's OK to be Broken
5 out of 5 Stars

I loved Cruz's stand on loyalty. We got a new look at the darkness in Ace's past and and introduction to a bunch of new characters. The political environment is heating up and the sectors aren't the only place of unrest.

Would I recommend this to a friend?
Absolutely. If you have read the Beyond series, this is a story we've been waiting a while on and it doesn't disappoint. Just when I think it can't get better, Kit Rocha proves me wrong. The set up for the next story has me demanding that time move faster so the next book can get here, now...now...now!

Favorite Quotes:
Rachel describing Cruz: "...a solid wall of muscle and strength who'd tear apart the world to keep them safe, or maybe even just to make them happy."

Cruz talking to Bren:
(Cruz) "Let's hope he doesn't ask me to set the world on fire."
(Bren) "And if he does?"
(Cruz)"...his loyalties would never be divided again. Rachel and Ace were his."
(Bren) "Cruz?"
(Cruz) "If you see me reaching for my lighter, start running"

Kit Rocha is actually two people—Bree & Donna, best friends who are living the dream. They get paid to work in their pajamas, talk on the phone, and write down all the stories they used to make up in their heads.

Beyond Shame was their first dystopian erotic romance. They also write paranormal romance as Moira Rogers. You can find them on the web at the following places:

BEYOND SHAME (book 1)
All Noelle Cunningham has ever wanted is a life beyond–beyond the walls of Eden, where only the righteous are allowed to remain, and beyond her stiflingly restrictive existence as a councilman’s daughter. But only ruins lie outside the City, remnants of a society destroyed by solar storms decades earlier.

The sectors surrounding Eden house the corrupt, the criminal–men like Jasper McCray, bootlegger and cage fighter. Jas clawed his way up from nothing to stand at the right hand of Sector Four’s ruthless leader, and he’ll defend the O’Kane gang with his life. But no fight ever prepared him for the exiled City girl who falls at his feet.

Her innocence is undeniable, but so is their intense sexual attraction, and soon they’re crossing every boundary Noelle barely knew she had. But if she wants to belong to Jas, first she’ll have to open herself to a world where passion is power, and freedom is found in submission.

BEYOND CONTROL (book 2)
She refuses to be owned.
Alexa Parrino escaped a life of servitude and survived danger on the streets to become one of the most trusted, influential people in Sector Four, where the O’Kanes rule with a hedonistic but iron fist. Lex has been at the top for years, and there’s almost nothing she wouldn’t do for the gang…and for its leader. Lie, steal, kill—but she bows to no one, not even Dallas O’Kane.

He’ll settle for nothing less.
Dallas fought long and hard to carve a slice of order out of the chaos of the sectors. Dangers both large and small threaten his people, but it’s nothing he can’t handle. His liquor business is flourishing, and new opportunities fuel his ambition. Lex could help him expand his empire, something he wants almost as much as he wants her. And no one says no to the king of Sector Four.

Falling into bed is easy, but their sexual games are anything but casual. Attraction quickly turns to obsession, and their careful dance of heady dominance and sweet submission uncovers a need so deep, so strong, it could crush them both.

BEYOND PAIN (book 3)
A woman with no future…
Live fast, die young–anything else is a fantasy for Six. She’s endured the worst the sectors had to throw at her, but falling in with Dallas O’Kane’s Sector Four gang lands her in a whole new world of danger. They’re completely open about everything, including their sexuality–but she hasn’t survived this long by making herself vulnerable. Especially not to men as dominant as Brendan Donnelly.

A man without a past…
Bren is a killer, trained in Eden and thrown to the sectors. His one outlet is pain, in the cage and in the bedroom, and emotion is a luxury he can’t afford–until he meets Six. Protecting her soothes him, but it isn’t enough. Her hunger for touch sparks a journey of erotic discovery where anything goes–voyeurism, flogging, rough sex. He has only one rule: he won’t share her.

In Bren’s arms, Six is finally free to let go. But his obsession with the man who made him a monster could destroy the fragile connection they’ve forged, and cost him the one thing that makes him feel human–her love.

BEYOND TEMPTATION (novella 3.5)
Part of "MARKED"
New York Times and USA Today Bestselling author Lauren Dane takes you into a brand new world in "ALL THAT REMAINS". Summer Killian falls fast and hard when Charlie arrives in Paradise Village. But the heat turns all the way up when she learns Charlie is also with Hatch - the man she loved three years before. While she's not sure she's cut out for a triad, neither man is going to give her up.

Take a "ROCKY RIDE" with New York Times and USA Today Bestselling author Vivian Arend as she leads you back to the Six Pack Ranch. Anna Coleman might be the law around Rocky Mountain House, but bad boy Mitch Thompson knows that under the stiff RCMP uniform is a woman with a passion for speed and pleasure that matches his own, and he’s not giving up until she’s his.

Kit Rocha returns to Sector Four in "BEYOND TEMPTATION". A promise to a dying friend backfires when Noah Lennox finds that the girl he was supposed to rescue is all grown up--and wearing O'Kane ink. He wants to protect her from the secrets of their past, but she wants him. And an O'Kane woman always gets what she wants.

The Witch Who Cried Wolf (Cry Wolf 1) by Sarah Mäkelä

Pack Drama
4 out of 5 Stars

What did I like?
It was a interesting courtship between the h/h, especially since they had a history together.

What did I not like?
It was mostly a sad book. She couldn't tell anyone in her family in order to get support from them. Her friend's attempt to help got her and her brother's best friend stuck in the middle of a pack issue. Her life spirals out of control and there is no resolution or restitution.

Would I recommend this to a friend?
It was an interesting read from a new author. I'm hoping for more to help resolve some of the things left unsolved in this book.

Waking Sarah (Vegas Mates 3) by Krystal Shannan

I was given a copy of this book.

Crazy Wolf Still At Large!
5 out of 5 Stars

What did I like?
It is good that they main group is dealing with the changes that are coming this way, while keeping everyone as safe as possible. The heroine is smart and I'm glad her parents are finally getting an explanation, even if they can't act on it.

What did I not like?
Freaking crazy wolf chick is still at large and the damned double dealing council; I just want to beat the council with a really large stick.

Would I recommend this to a friend?
This series is better read in order. I'm looking forward to more books in this series. It is a good read and while each book focuses on a different couple the overall story line is still in progress.

Three Hearts Beat as One (Hell's Delight 1) by Karen Mercury

I won this book in a giveaway.

Immaturity has no age limit...
5 out of 5 Stars

What did I like?
I like their idea that they are adding to the love. I'm glad the heroine ended up with guys who appreciated her. I like the town's name.

What did I not like?
Jealousy is an ugly thing and makes people do stupid things. The ex was an asshat and the mayor was freaking pervy. Creep factor by 10! *shudders*

Would I recommend this to a friend?
This was a great intro to a new series. It was a fun read with lots of humor.

Gateway to HeVan (The Nephilim Series 4) by Lucy Kelly

I won this book in a giveaway.

Segue into Spin-off
5 out of 5 Stars

What did I like?
I like how the author flipped the "bad girl" and everyone got their HEA/HFN. Definitely looking forward to how this affects the story line.  Gilda has a way of putting things that is just hilarious. I can't wait for Cassandra's story - she's a hoot!

What did I not like?
There was a character that made me just want bring him back from the dead and kill him again, only this time slowly. The former duke was an all around bad character and the destruction he caused had such long reaching effects, made me want to cry.

Would I recommend this to a friend?
I recently discovered this series from a release party. I won a book and went out to purchase the rest. I read them in order and I was so happy when I finished. I really like the way this series has developed. This is not a stand alone!

To Love and Obey (The Doms of Club Mystique 1) by Mardi Maxwell

I was given this book.

Double Standards Much?!?
4 out of 5 Stars

What did I like?
The introductions to the many characters was handled very smoothly. This was a very dramatic book. Lots of emotional upheaval with a nice HEA ending.

What did I not like?
Double standards tend to make me really angry, and this book was full of it. The hero's angst was really brought on himself with his sexist, chauvinistic attitude and his inability to keep it in his pants; dipping the wick in the crazy pool is just begging to bring the drama. On the flip side of the coin, the heroine is really naive and tends to fool herself with her head in the sand approach.

Would I recommend this to a friend?
This is an interesting start to a series. I'm looking forward to the next book in the series.

*Spoiler Alert!* If cheating is a hot button, this book does have some cheating by the hero while in a relationship.

ARC Review: Red Satin Lips (The Surrender Series 1) by Trinity Blacio

I was given a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

5 out of 5 Stars

What did I like?
There were a number of twists and turns to keep me guessing. There was a good lead-in for the next book.

What did I not like?
I was sad for Baal and his children who didn't inherit his gene. That's a rough relationship. I was sad that some many had to die, although it was necessary for the next book's couple.

Would I recommend this to a friend?
I'm definitely looking forward to more in this series.

3013: Renegade (3013 Series 2) by Susan Hayes

I won this book in a giveaway.

5 out of 5 Stars

What did I like?
I like their common goal, even if their paths were different. I love her foster father's attitude. I like the similarity of their skill set/nickname: Wraith (aka Ghost Jr.) and Ghost. I like the idea of a female Robin Hood. Family is who you make it, it's more than just biology; it's those that love you.

What did I not like?
I didn't like his attitude towards the foster father; if she had been adopted by another Alliance couple, she would have be another class conscious scroll that he didn't want. I don't like the inequalities that are inherent to this system, even though I like that each book takes on a new prejudice.

Would I recommend this to a friend?
I'm looking forward to more stories; hoping for Sonja's and possibly even Annie's dads' story.

Angel of Death (The Chosen Chronicles 1) by Karen Dales

I was given this book in exchange for an honest review.

Two Centuries Later

4 out of 5 Stars

What did I like?
The plot thickens with the exposure of more than just Chosen. The suspense in this series is very enthralling. There is some romance in the book and there are a lot of different forms of love in this series.

What did I not like?
It is sad that every time he find love and happiness it is taken from him. It is sad that the more powerful he becomes, the more people (even those who love him) use him as a weapon. I'm not one for sad stories, his life experiences just break my heart and this next battle against his love may just destroy him.

Would I recommend this book?
If you like suspense written in gothic, saga style, this is a good series to read.

Release Day Review: Hammer's Fall (Breakers' Bad Boys 1) by Laurie Roma

I was given a copy of this book.

5 out of 5 Stars

The Fairy and the Fighter
What did I like?
I like the strong female presence, ruling the world from behind the scenes. I liked the rehabilitation theme in the story ( dog rehab, soldier rehab, PTSD treatment for the trauma surgeon, burn-out from the Hollywood producer, abused boys). I liked the small town setting.

Would I recommend this to a friend?
It was a great intro to a new series. I'm looking forward to more books in this series.

Changling (The Chosen Chronicles Prelude) by Karen Dales

I was given this book in exchange for an honest review.

A Sad Beginning

5 out of 5 Stars

What did I like?
Despite its depressing and distressing content, this story kept my attention. It was well written and a good introduction of characters.

What did I not like?
It ended with a lot of questions. What happened between Gwyn and Tarian after? Did Gwyn's sister find her HEA? Did Huw get what he deserved?

Would I recommend this book to a friend?
I was definitely intrigued by the prequel. I have high hopes for this series and hope my questions are answered in the next book.

Christmas at the Missouri State Pen by Deanna Roy

I was given this book. I have not read Stella & Dane.

Home for Christmas

5 out of 5 Stars

It is nice that Stella waits for him to get out; the reason he is incarcerated is sad though. I hope that Dane doesn't get in trouble for helping Buddy. Home is where the heart is. Such a nice holiday message. Glad that they let Buddy back in, since that is where he wanted to be. I really liked the notation at the end about it being based on a true story.

ARC Review: Fated Mates: The Alpha Shifter Boxed Set by Adriana Hunter, Liliana Rhodes, Lynn Red, A.T. Mitchell, Michelle Fox, Eve Langlais, Skye Eagleday, Tabitha Conall, Alexis Dare, Molly Prince

I was given an ARC in exchange for an honest review.
I chose 3 books from this set to review.

Charming the Alpha by Liliana Rhodes:
Love is complicated. Throw in some spirits, a curse and a Juliet/Romeo style romance and you have a wild read. The relationships were fluid and changing. There were a number of twists along the way with multiple HEA at the end.

Protecting the Pack by Tabitha Conall:

A wolf walks into the bar...hehehe. There is a lot of confusion going on and it was the perfect time to strike. Protecting the Pack is the story of a broken hero, tired from the army; the alpha, who's pack is being attacked from within; and a battered heroine, who is being used as a pawn. Insidious plan foiled by fated mates.

The Alpha Claims A Mate by Georgette St. Clair:
Snubbing the alpha is not a good idea. But that is what our curvy heroine does while she's having girls night out. An investigation forces them to work together, helping them to patch up first impressions. I didn't like the twist at the end. It made me angry and sad. I was glad when they ripped him apart.

ARC Review: Love Charms: A Paranormal Romance Box Set by Ava Catori, Cerys du Lys, Deanna Roy, Charisma M. Cole, Selena Kitty, J.E. and M. Keep, Eve Langlais, Michelle McCleod, Shirl Anders, Ty Nolan

I was given an ARC in exchange for an honest review.
I chose 3 books from this set to review.

Blinded by Magic, A Witch Romance by Ava Catori:
I liked that there were all variations of the types of relationships and showed both good and bad  about all of them. I was surprised at the end with the ending, I bet her parents will be thrilled. Interesting questions came to mind.

A Demon and His Witch by Eve Langlais:
This is a start of a great series. I love the snarkiness of the MC and can't wait to see what Lucifer has planned next. The heroine was healed (500 years is a long time to be broken). The hero was just what she needed, smart aleck one liners and sexual zings.

Vampire Lords of Blacknall: Trinity
This was an intriguing start to a new series. There was a nice set up for all the brothers' stories too. I'm looking forward to reading their stories. Interesting twist at the end.

Make Mine A Cowboy (Cowboy Dreamin' 1) by Sandy Sullivan

I won this book in a giveaway.

Experience Makes All The Difference

5 out of 5 Stars

What did you like?
I loved the hero's mother's matchmaking. I love stories with larger, feisty heroines. It was really the details that made this story for me. The hero's manners were impeccable but he didn't loose the stubborn pigheadedness and lack of romantic words that one expects to find in a cowboy. The fans coming to see her at the ranch was a nice touch.

What did you not like?
The parts that I didn't like had nothing to do with the authors writing and everything to do with disliking the characters' actions. Both Josh, Jason and Joel needed to be smacked a few times for the idiocy they pulled on the heroine. Josh totally got the smack down he deserved. Jason and Joel both got off easy with being told off by the heroine. I would have said they both deserved a kick in the junk.

Would you recommend this book?
Absolutely, I can't wait to read about the other brothers and watch as they get their comeuppance when they fall in love. I love HEA and this definitely delivered.

Naughty and Nice (Three's Company) by Jayne Rylon

I won this book in a giveaway.

5 out of 5 Stars

Great Holiday Read

I love the heroine's quirks like getting lost in the music while driving. I also love her attitude and ability to balance both twins, Smart and adventurous yet still a bit geeky. The suspense was thrilling and the invention was interesting. I nearly cried when she woke up thinking Justin had left, though. A great read.

Shopping Trip

*Somewhere in the Middle East*

Looking at the mirror, she smiled, no one would recognize her. With her burqa covering her from horns to feet, she could pass as a local human, no problem.  Now to the market. Turning to her bodyguards, she checked that their horns were tucked into their turbans. Satisfied that they wouldn't stand out, she headed towards her litter.

Listening to the noise of the souq soothed her. Signalling a halt, she was helped to stand. Bangles, bracelets necklaces and perhaps a sweetmeat or two were on her to buy list. Taking a step forward, her guards fell into place flanking her sides and back. Moving from stall to stall, she haggled and bargained throughout the afternoon. Looking at her purchases on the way back, she sighed. These would be perfect.

Pity Party

Mia:
Looking around, I sighed feeling out of place and overwhelmed. This human realm was so...NOLA so different from Rothkalina. What am I doing here? This despondency was such a pain.
*sigh*
The emptiness was getting hard to bear. Feeling on the outside was nothing new, but looking around at all the happy couples was just depressing. She thought of calling Zoe, but having to explain that she was feeling sorry for herself for not having a mate, was not a conversation she wanted to contemplate. No need to dredge up old hurts. She was happy for her brothers, really she was. After so long though, hope was getting a little thin on the ground. With everyone finding a mate this Ascension, was it too much to wish hers was here too? What if I never find him? *shaking off that thought* It must be seeing Holly pregnant. Damn this hormonal bs.
*cracks neck*
Time to shake off this pity party crap. Dialing up Sabine on her phone, "You and Melanthe feel up for some fun tonight? I feel the need to go release some steam."

Sabine:
Sabine moved restlessly through the big house that she and Rydstrom kept in NOLA, her footsteps echoing through the empty rooms. He was so busy lately working to bring Rothkalina into modern times and she had needed a break from all the construction and chaos. She wasn't feeling neglected, far from it, but she had loved being in NOLA when they first got together and had wanted to explore the city more. It also gave her the opportunity to spend time and get to know her sister-in-laws more. She had already seen Holly who was practically glowing from her pregnancy. She wanted to make sure to make time to get something for the twins. She smirked...ok...she had to make time to BUY something for the twins. Rydstrom would kill her if she didn't pay for it.

She had yet to see Mia and Zoe. Rydstrom adored his younger sisters but she had to spend a lot of time with them. She had said as much to him and how she wished they would find mates of their own. He had warned her not to play matchmaker on her trip here. She smiled...she would try to refrain. But she still wanted to see them. Determined to find them, she went in search of her phone. Finding it on the desk in the study she reached for then jumped as it rang. Picking it up, she smiled. "Hello Mia...I am definitely up for some fun tonight!! Come on over and let's see what kind of mischief the Woede women can get into.

Mia:
*smiling as she hung up the phone* Hmm, what to wear, what to wear. Heading to the closet, I started tossing outfits on the bed. Too bright, too short, too formal. Ahhh there it is, perfect! Flipping the scarf over my shoulder, I head out to Sabine's place.

Yuletide Passion by Trinity Blacio

Wolves, and Vampires and Cults, oh my!

4 out of 5 Stars

What did you like?
I was glad that her mom was found and they were reunited, if only for a short while. It made sense after we find out what her dad is, why she's mated to the four strongest wolves around. The gifts she gave them for their mating ceremony were beautiful and sentimental. It was the perfect touch that she got pregnant during their mating night.

What did you not like?
There were a few spelling and grammar mistakes, but they didn't detract enough to mess up the story. The cult her father had and what they did were depressing.

Would you recommend this book?
While parts of the book were sad and there were a few mistakes, overall I really enjoyed the book. It was a good read and I would like to hear more about the mother's mating in the future.

The Virgin Witch and the Vampire King by Trinity Blacio

Quick Intro

5 out of 5 Stars

This book is a short story that introduces us to most of the main characters and the prophecy which shapes their world. We meet the main couple, Beth and Edward during a traumatic event; where Beth believes her best friend, Nora, has been murdered and she is enraged enough to face off against those responsible. While Edward takes her away from the scene to heal, her father chimes in with a warning. They mate and start the prophecy.

Definitely, expect more of the story to follow. This was a free read, more to get one interested in the world than a full story. The full story can be found in The Virgin Witch and the Vampire King: Book One: Wedding Bells Times Four.

Synopsis:
Does he have his claws in her good? Or is she just yanking his tail? Elena Demo's life has been turned upside down. Her mother passed away, leaving Elena and her two half-sisters to deal with her mother's will and the crazy stipulations it contains. For the three sisters to inherit the substantial amount of money left behind, they have to go work with two aunts they've never met, in the family business they've known nothing about, Amazons Inc. If that isn't bad enough, she runs into the man who once broke her heart, and it's only their first day on the job.

Gage Ivanov is a stupid beast. He let the woman who should be his mate go because she couldn't be told of his Other identity. Now, Elena's back, but she refuses to give in to his demands for her to be his mate. The timing for all of this couldn't be worse, either, because Gage and his circle of friends are trying to subdue a rogue pack of wolf shifters in Germany who threaten to out the Others to the world of humans. Will he be able to juggle the oncoming conflict and win back his mate? Claws, love bites and handcuffs - OH MY!

Excerpt:
Gage Ivanov was in no mood to be fucked with by the woman looking blankly back at him from the other side of the desk that separated them. One would think he’d be in a better mood. He’d finally caught up on some desperately needed sleep after being awake forty-eight hours for a mission. This was not the case. If anything, he felt as if he was approximately three point two seconds from flipping his shit, which would involve tearing the door off the Fort Bragg Military Police’s inner sanctum, stalking past the annoying female with a tantalizing scent that was starting to drive him insane and then collecting his Heckler & Koch MK 23 his damn self from the evidence room. Screw the harpy for saying he couldn’t have his issued side arm back.

Taking a deep breath to try to battle his building anger, he blew it out slowly and decided to give the feeble human another chance before he did something drastic, like pin her to a wall and kiss the ever living shit out of her.

Whoa.

Gage rubbed his forehead and wondered where the hell that crazy thought had come from. That idea was flat out ridiculous. He must be loopy still from lack of sleep. He’d probably meant that he’d pin her to the wall and scare the shit out of her, not kiss her. Yeah, that sounded better.

About the Authors:
Crystal and Melissa often live half their lives with their heads in the clouds dreaming of alpha military hunks, werewolves and kick ass heroines crazy enough to chase after creatures that they unquestionably should know better than to chase.
Their first YA novel, The Burning Star, was released in May 2012. Big Bad Bite is their second novel, but their first adult paranormal romance. They are now working on their next two novels, Walk On The Striped Side and Secret Maneuvers. With these projects underway, they are looking forward to showing the rest of the world their crazy stories, heroes and heroines that often plague their minds until written, and hope you will join them on their journey!

I love when the MC are an unlikely couple. Human males and Shifter females in a relationship tend to upset the apple cart in most shifter societies. A big no-no, which is something I don't get when there are so many Shifter Male/Human Female pairings. In this story we learn a little more about bear culture and open up the possibility of figuring out some of the questions left over from Laid Bear. Despite the way he was leading his life, it was sad to see Yoren die, and I hope they catch that murdering, crazy scientist. I'm glad that Chet got to see a HEA bear-human birthing. Such a tragedy what happened to him and his mate. I'm also glad that Charlotte got her head out of her behind and made up with Bethany. The dead mate's voice in her head made my heart sigh. It's difficult to move on when you've lost someone you love and to have that kind of encouragement is uplifting and comforting.

What I didn't like?
Really couldn't think of a thing.

Would I recommend this book?
Absolutely, if you have read Laid Bear, this is a must buy. I would encourage you to read Laid Bear before you read Laid Bear 2, though the main couple is different there are a lot of return characters and events are continuing from the previous book.

Difficult Choices (Montana Cowboys 4) by Sandy Sullivan

I won this book in a giveaway.

Small Town Love Triangle

5 out of 5 Stars

What would you do if your first love, the one who broke your heart, came back? This is Delaney's dilemma. She has finally moved on, or so she believes, when Jack comes back to town while her boyfriend Colby is off at the rodeo. The path to love isn't easy. They fight over her like dogs over a bones, flinging insults and innuendo. While the words fly, we make a startling discovery; one that paves the way to this trio's HEA.

The characters' fears and emotions were realistic and expected as there is a lot of history between the main characters. The book was well paced and a nice length. Although, this book is part of a series, I read it as a standalone with no difficulties. Looking forward to reading more in the series and getting to know other town members.

ARC Review: First Moon by Michelle Fox

I was given a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

Beauty from Tragedy

4 out of 5 Stars

What did I like?
There are some interesting characters and the story line was reasonable. The timeline for Tao and Audrey's relationship was short but intense. Although, I didn't like some of the way the story played out, it is understandable why it did and those events helped to move the story along as well as set the stage for the rest of the series.

What did I not like?
Despite the fact that Tao's "special power" is strength, he is really weak. He let his emotions over rule his judgement, even though he was a pack enforcer. His weakness allowed many to suffer and brought events to a aggressive head - his alpha shouldn't have had to come deal with the issue. Also when he knew he couldn't kill his brother, he should have allowed the alpha to call his brothers in as reinforcements or called them himself.

Would I recommend this book?
I think that this was a good set up for a series. I can't wait to read more about his brothers and the new pack. It is a little more human (with the prejudice about purity of blood) than many werewolf stories.

Trained for Seduction (Spy Games 1) by Mia Downing

I won this book in a giveaway.

Resourceful Heroine

5 out of 5 Stars

I love the heroine and her ability to stay one step ahead of the hero, even in her reduced circumstances. I also like that she has rules in place for their ménage to try to keep everyone in the right mindset. The love triangle is going to complicate things later. Everyone is too close and the situation just screams "drama". I was a little sad that the heroine was forced to go to such lengths to find out about her past, when the hero could have told her. There was a lot of trauma in the past that was causing issue in the present relationship. Also the General needs to have his behind kicked. Overall, great start to a series and I have the next books on my TBR list.

ARC Review: Revenge (Revenge 1) by JJ Knight

I was given a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

Intern to Eye Candy in 3 Days

5 out of 5 Stars

We're introduced to the main couple, Jess and Dylan. Jess is a naïve farm girl trying to break into the music industry in LA as an intern. The day before she starts her new job, she is mugged while watching a guy, Dylan, play guitar. Unfortunately, this seemingly random mugging is in fact a setup by Dylan as part of his way to break into the music industry via YouTube. We leave off with Jess out to win Dylan's trust for her job while questions of his murky past swirl in her consciousness.

Recommend to a friend?
I personally dislike cliffhangers, just because I'm impatient, I want a HEA before I finish the last page of a story. However, if cliffhangers or reading a story in parts isn't an issue of yours, this is a good intro, part 1 of 5. It gives enough to set up the relationship and ends with keeping the reader guessing. I'm interested in where this is leading.

NBC Flash Fiction Jan. 2014

Written Prompt (Phyllis Williams - FB): I love roses especially on a lady. I love the way they smell. He bends over and slowly breathes in her scent. He whispers in her ear...You are intoxicating. The plans I have for you...
Write a short story (200 to 400 words) based on the picture.

He brushed the petals down her torso, watching her face as she absorbed the soft, gentle caress. "I've finally got you covered in rose petals. Isn't that what you wanted, my dear?" She shivered at the anger in his voice, so at odds with his gentle stroking. She felt the bed dip as he brushed his mouth to her ear, "You want to be mine, don't you, pet?" Confusion swamped her. She didn't understand why he sounded so angry. He asked her if she trusted him. She did, physically, but she was staring to have doubts about the safety of her heart. Tears slipped free, dampening the blindfold. She waited so long and she loved him so much, why was he tormenting her like this. Seeing the anguish on her face and the rapidly dampening cloth, his expression softened. "Oh, darling girl" he crooned as he gathered her in his arms. massaging away the marks the restraints had left on her wrists. "What am I going to do with you, foolish girl." [word count 172]

Game Misconduct (Dartmouth Cobras 1) by Bianca Sommerland

I won this book in a giveaway.

5 out of 5 Stars

It's Complicated...

This book is a good start to a new series. There are a lot of people being introduced, including a lot of villains. I felt bad for the guy paid to throw the game, since he was only doing it to pay for his daughter's specialist. I was sad that the other daughter got the team. That was a crappy move on her father's part, even if it does set up the next book. There were so many relationships and connections that it was easy to be confused on who was in the relationship. There was a good balance to the ménage though and I like who she ends up with, hoping the other guys get their HEA too. This was a great read, while complicated it definitely captured my attention.

ARC Review: Bear King's Curves by A.T. Mitchell

I was given this book in exchange for an honest review.

Different Take on Bear Shifters

3 out of 5 Stars

What do you like?
I liked that the heroine was a strong character and that there was a HEA with a baby on the way.

What do you not like?
Both the heroine and the hero were too easily manipulated, even at the end. He should have taken the scrolls to his mate rather than burn them. It would have been nice to have been able to find out if there was a way in the old laws to make the H/H more compatible. Also the heroine rec'd nothing but scorn for being a human and stealing but much wasn't said to condemn the bears who massacred the humans.

Recommend to a friend?
It was a good read with interesting concepts. I like reading about bear shifters and it was an interesting take on how leaders are picked to lead, different than what I've read before.

ARC Review: Howl For Me (The Alpha's Kiss 3) by Lynn Red

I was given an ARC in return for an honest review.

A Fitting End

4 out of 5 Stars

I bought Change for Me a while ago, but had yet to read it. I was given an ARC of Howl for Me (Book 3) and it seemed, now it was time. I read both Change for Me and then Shift into Me this morning. Finally, this afternoon it was time to read the end. In Howl for Me, we learn a lot about the past: who the boys' parents were, why they were separated and given to the different clans, even why Lily is able to do things "normal" humans can't.

What I liked:
Though this is the end, there is hope for the future. Cat finally gets her man (Hunter as expected from Shift into Me). I was glad that Devin was able to "redeem" himself, although I felt he got the short end of the stick. Even though it was expected, it was still hard to say goodbye to Poko. Despite the fact that Damon can talk to spirits, it's just not the same as being there, especially in light of their newly revealed relationship.

What I didn't like:
Although, there really wasn't any other choice but to end it that way, I felt bad that Devin died. Perhaps he will have a better life with his real parents in the spirit world. I also felt that the battle was a little anti-climactic. There was a big build-up and yet such a little thing defeated the "wolf god".

Would I recommend this book?
Each book picks up where the previous one left off so I would suggest that you read the first two books to learn why everyone feels the way they do and fill in some background on why things unfolded the way they do. Each book fulfilled its purpose within that book so there wasn't really any cliffhangers. It was definitely an enjoyable read and if you have read the previous books, this is a must buy.

Sam's Review by Jan Irving

I won this book in a giveaway.

5 out of 5 Stars

Animosity turned Attraction

There was a fair amount of intensity between the main characters. The owner of the building was a jerk, coming onto the architect, even though he was with Sam. The villain was a surprise and I'm glad that they came up with a plan to rejuvenate the neighborhood.

Interesting Take on Shifter Biology

4 out of 5 Stars

I'm surprised that it took them so long to find the bad guy, especially after all the bad things he had done. I felt bad for the boy's biological mom and hope they can recover the nieces later on in the series. I think Meagan should get to stay with Josh. I'm definitely looking forward to more in this series and learning more about this world.

It was a good day...

It was a quiet evening in the guild hall. Syoko was feeling at home with her guild mates. The time off to adventure by herself took its toll but nevertheless, it felt great to be home. Syoko met up with some of the new promising guildies.

Syoko heard someone yelling over the crowds in town:
"Here ye, here ye! Come join Chaos Risen and help me with my fight against the great Otoah!"

"Polywiz? Help you fight against the great Otoah?"

"Yeah, she keep biting me!"

"Oh is that so."

Armuna was walking up to Polywiz and Syoko when Syoko pointed at her.

"Ok, so this is what you do, Poly. You grab Armuna here." Syoko proceed to pick up Armuna.

"Hey! What are you doing!" She screamed.

"And then you toss her at Otoah when you see her coming for you."

Syoko tossed Armuna across the alleyway.

"EEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE"

"That way, she will be dazed and confused. And this is where you take your chance and run!"

"But will that work?" Polywiz silenced his recruiting efforts.

"I'm sure it will work! Right, Armuna? Armuna? I wonder where she went. I know she was here just a moment ago."

Later that night, Polywiz and Syoko set in motion their plan of attack on Otoah. As Otoah zoned into the guild hall.

"Hello everybody."

"Now, Poly!"

Both Polywiz and Syoko picked up Armuna flinging her at Otoah.

"EEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE"

"What the?"

"RUN!" Both screamed as they bolted for the Guild's doorway.

"Oh no you don't!" Otoah with her mighty strength caught Armuna. "Are you ok, Armuna?"

"Yeah, I'm fine-- EEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE"

Otoah tossed Armuna back at the bumbling duo knocking them into the door way.

"So, you two thought you could get away from me?"

"No, Otoah! It wasn't my idea. It was all Syoko's plan. Bite her! I had nothing to do with it."

"NEVER!!"

***

On that day, everyone in guild learned not to cross Otoah.

Release Day Review: The Lady and the Pirate (He Wanted Me Pregnant!) by Victoria Wessex

It's always the brainy ones...

5 out of 5 Stars

This story is a historical breeding romance. I thought it was a little hard to believe that a navy captain didn't know how to read boat plans, especially in a historical setting. There was a couple sex scenes during which most of the main characters' pillow talk was about getting her pregnant, or breeding her. The hero and the heroine became romantically involved, even it they didn't confess to falling in love. I expect Faith's story, as the story ended on a twist.

A Visit to the Guild Hall

Ninnian stepped out of her house into the Four Winds. Checking the orders for the farm, she saw several orders were overdue to be planted. After planting her farm, she transformed into her dragon form and set off for the Vale. Much has changed since the Gate to the Vale was opened. Garrosh had tainted this once beautiful land with his war machines and greed. Touching down in her dragon form, she morphed back as she strode through the doorway of the Shrine. After a quick check of her mailbox and bank, Ninnian set off once again, wondering what to do. Lately, she had been getting restless, her feet itched to explore new lands and conquer new enemies. The current regime was dulling her edge.

Syoko, she thought, she'll know where the action is. Hearthing to the guild hall, Ninnian came to a screeching halt. She blinked, surely she had not been gone so long as the vision before her implied. She looked around, but could see no familiar faces. Striding forward, she skimmed the guild roster. Where was Syoko's name? Her long-time comrade's name was no where to be found. Shaken, she looked for any familiar names, perhaps they could tell her where Syoko had gone. Spying one of Hell's alts, she shot off a quick message. "Where did Syoko go?" Not long after, the reply came: "To Hyjal". To Hyjal, what was she doing on Hyjal?

Pick Your Pleasure (Pick Your Pleasure 1) by Jayne Rylon

I was given this book.

5 out of 5 Stars

This is a choose your own adventure book. The first read through, I choose a route. After completing the story, I go back and explore the other options. I love that all the choices end in HEA.

My storyline:
Beginning: Underground
Linley Picked Ryder (yea, I go for the bad boy)
Take Me to the Basement (I prefer kink)
More the Merrier (gotta love menages)
Ending: Ryder Epilogue

There is something for everyone. You can choose to make the story as hot or as romantic as you please. Definitely a fun read.

Prompt: He found the hot pink stiletto heel in the grass under the bridge. (FB - Stormy Glenn)

The shoe belongs to a troll princess. They aren't ugly, like most would believe. Damn those Grimm brothers and their lying, manwhoring ways. Trolls do however pick a bridge to visit in hopes of finding their mate (assuming its another troll). Once he discovered the stiletto, he knew he had to find the woman it belonged to, curiosity being a major personality trait of cat shifters. Taking a whiff of the shoe, "hmm, troll, delicious troll".

Now finding a troll might sound easy, after all they are taller and bulkier than humans, however Las Vegas is the home to all sorts of paranormals. "What happens in Vegas, stays in Vegas" isn't just a fun vacation line, its the law that keeps paras safe from their human counterparts. Learning to blend in is a must for paras, even in a "safe" place like Las Vegas.

Sword's Call (The King's Riders 1) by CA Szarek

Medieval Adventure Romance

5 out of 5 Stars

The quest, the journey, the love interest, the misunderstanding, the HEA its all in this book. We start off discovering the hero, heroine and her quest to vanquish the evil that has abused and murdered her family. Powerful swords, magic and a little help from others gathered along the way make this an interesting read. The "bad" minions turned good (well, more abused than bad) finds a special place in my heart reserved for those I want to smother in affection. He finds a home with the hero and heroine as do many of their friends from their journey. Love the HEA where she gets to train the archers. Looking forward to more from this author.

Heroine Needs to Kick the Heroes' Behinds

4 out of 5 Stars

I had trouble with the heroes in this story. They needed to be smacked upside the head a few times. I really like the high priest and hope he gets a book later. I also really like the heroine, she's strong. The heroine had a few breakdowns due to previous vampire attacks but she was strong enough to overcome the trauma left behind and find the info she needed using the link the vampires left behind. I can't wait to see if the info saves them due to her forewarning. I'm looking forward to book 2, where the king gets his mate, although I'm hoping that the lamp brings him a male mate to share with Amy. Definitely an interesting take with vampires as the bad guys.

Release Day Review: Dark Wolf (Carpathians 25) by Christine Feehan

Dmitri and Skylar

5 out of 5 Stars

IT'S HERE!!!!! Ok, so now my anticipation is over. I got this last night at around 11:30p ish and I stayed up until 5:30a reading it. I couldn't put it down. I love all the Carpathian books but this one has been a long time in coming. I love Skylar and Dmitri. I can't wait until the next in the trilogy (Dark Blood) comes but for now I'm still fan-girling over this one.

I love that Skylar, Joseph and Paul were able to do it by themselves (they are definitely underestimated by the other Carpathians). I'm glad that Skylar was finally able to break past the last of her reservation and accept her past and abilities. I am glad that there was a "failure" (according to Skylar) during their lovemaking, just to show that even though they are lifemates, trauma doesn't disappear that quickly. It's a tribute to her strength that she survived mostly mentally intact but she definitely still has a way to go. I am constantly amazed by the characters in this series. The amazing things they can do, such as their healing - both emotional and physical, are just awe-inspiring. It keeps me clinging to the edge of my seat to see what they will be able to do next, especially the women. They have such amazing gifts and its great to see them in the spotlight.

I'm sad the Lycans are having issues with the Lycan/Carpathian hybrid differences. It would be nice if they could come to an alliance. You know the first (and last) time they come after MaryAnn or Skylar, well....it's just not gonna be pretty. They are lucky that they haven't been annihilated for the trauma they've already caused. I doubt the twins or the De la Cruz brothers will hold back a second time. The Lycan council needs to get their heads out of their backsides and deal with there drama.

Release Day Review: The Bear's Reluctant Wolf (Sweet Water, 2) by Jenika Snow

Grumpy Bear Meets His Match

5 out of 5 Stars

As expected, Trace was crazy intense. I'm glad the psycho ex, Karla, didn't cause to much trouble. I like that Candace has quiet strength. She's both able to calm and match her grumpy bear when it comes to attitude. Love the stripper pole scene, super hot. I can't wait to see more from this series, especially Melissa, Maverick and Liam.

Necessary Roughness by Ann Jacobs

This paperback includes books 1-4 of the Necessary Roughness series by Ann Jacobs. I won this book in a giveaway.

5 out of 5 Stars

Sackmaster
I was frustrated with the heroine's ex. Identity confusion is hard but he was just a douchbag about it. The hero's ex just needed to be slapped for cheating. I love the idea of Rebel's Roost. I loved the inclusion of charity, too. Although, the couple was a cliché (model and football player), their kinks dove-tailed beautifully, giving the story a nice twist. Love the ending!

End Run
This was a nice IR BDSM story. I was intrigued by the idea of male chastity. Their intro to their later temporary third was intense and I'm happy that he found his correct partner. The M/M scene was nice.

Best Reception
There was a lot of hard truths in this story. The seriousness of the head injuries to football players was really highlighted in this book and I'm glad. It is a dangerous sport and there are serious consequences when you don't pay attention of your body's limitations. The heroine was a pure submissive and that made it very hard, if not impossible to leave the Dom who was abusing her. I'm glad she was able to recover and find love with a better Dom, especially after their almost disastrous first attempt. I'm love reading about Shibari, such a beautiful expression of art and kink.

Prime Defender
This story is probably my favorite out to the series. Matt Rubin is a big man and although his wife is a BBW, she's also smaller than him (it's the Asian in her) and his tragic past leads to him fearing that he will hurt her. I love that he is able to switch, just enough to force her to take care of herself and recover. I also loved that he attended therapy while she was recovering to help deal with some of his personal issues (so they could have a baby). While pony play isn't my favorite kink to read about, it does bind them together and gives you a gauge for their personal fitness. I loved the scene where they renewed their vows, beautiful, just beautiful.

Would you recommend this book?
The author does a wonderful job on introducing the players and their significant others in each previous book as well as staying connected to all the couples throughout the series. I would definitely recommend reading this series.

Welcome Home (Pike's Run 1) by Kara O'Neal

I won this book in a giveaway.
An Emotional Read

5 out of 5 Stars

This started as a really sad story with a number of discouraging moments. It took a while, but everyone finally go the truth and straightened out their relationships. The hero was a stubborn one, but his heroine's tenacity was more than a match. There was an unexpected twist and a surprise villain to finish off the story.

The author really had me engaged and I felt happiness and sadness right alongside the characters. I can't wait to read more in this series.

Mistletowed by Tara Lain

I won this book in a giveaway.
Looks can be Deceiving

4 out of 5 stars

There are three couples that while they look good on paper are all messed up. The yuppie couple doesn't belong together, the woo-woo couple doesn't fulfill each other's needs and the gay man out doesn't need to be set up. This Christmas season one of the friends brings a magical mistletoe to the party to show everyone their soul mate. Although, there was a bit of magic involved, a lot of the build up showed the couples who they belonged with, even the new ones introduced to the group of friends. I will say there was cheating involved, both physical and mental, that didn't make me happy to read but it did contribute to the story. Overall, the story is a lesson in both open communication and growing with (or in this case without) your significant other.

Release Day Review: Dominated by Two Leopards (Alpha Legends 3) by Tara Rose

A Good Read

5 out of 5 Stars

This series ended with everything neatly tied up. The relationship between the main characters didn't have a lot of drama just a few plot twists to keep it interesting. This book was more about the relationship; less sex, more romantic connection. This was a nice change as normally shifter romances are all about the repeated claiming and sexual connection between mates. I'm a fan of shifter romances and this series is good reading.

First Day of Snow

This is a small glimpse into the life of Felicia and on the Island, Etlantis. If you have not yet read my first book, that's ok. You should be able to follow along without knowing all of the story. There is still yet another book that deals with Felicia's back story and sort of hints at it here. With it being that time of year (snow and ice), I choose something a little festive to share. Furthermore, I hope you enjoy and I hope I peek your interest.

Cole in Her Stocking (Collision Force) by CA Szarek

I won this book in a giveaway.

The Mom Experience

5 out of 5 Stars

In this story, we check back in with the couple from Collision Force after she has had their baby. She's exhausted and moody and overall suffering as only a post-baby mom can; though Cole's trying to help and doing all that he can to support her. It's nice to check back in with couples and get glimpses into their lives after the HEA ending. Definitely a fun read if you have read Collision Force.

For the Love of Mutt by Doris O'Connor

I won this book in a giveaway.

Laugh out loud funny

5 out of 5 Stars

Cynical hero matched with a big hearted heroine. I love the scene where she takes him home and he covers his eyes with his paws (he's in shifted form) while she's undressing. I also think it's hilarious the way her mouth runs away with her when they get together. Mary is a great secondary character: ball busting mama wolf (well, wolf mate).

Would you recommend this book? It was a cute Christmas story. Definitely a good one for reading while enjoying a cup of hot cocoa.

Cold Day in Hell (Lost and Found Inc. 2) by Jerrie Alexander

I won this book in a giveaway.

Love the Title

5 out of 5 Stars

The heroine is strong, but blinded by her promise to her parents. The hero is arrogant and blinded by his focus on the mission. The hero continually underestimates her and she continually proves him wrong. It's a great contrast. I was happy when the teammate saved the dog, even though I was sad by what they had made the animal do previously. This story made me very sad a number of times. The traitor got exactly what he deserved, especially after so many people got hurt because of him. An entire village massacred.

Would you recommend this book? I'm loving this series. I went back to get book one before reading them, but they can be read as standalones.

Release Day Review: Peanut Butter and Jelly for Two (Paranormal Dentistry for the Fanged and Friendly) by Jackie Nacht

Shifters Need Dentists, Too!

5 out of 5 Stars

I thought it was hilarious that this series debunked many of the acceptable myths about shifters. I would love to hear more about crossover traits, both physical and social (hoarding). I find it cute that neither of them can cook, although the reason they can't is very acceptable. I do like the idea of an all shifter town, so they can be themselves. I'm definitely looking forward to more in this series.

The Tarnished Jewel of Jazaar (Beasts of the Desert) by Susanna Carr

I won this book from a Goodreads contest.

Compromise is Essential!

3 out of 5 Stars

This story is full of angst. The hero is torn between his tradition country and the international community. The heroine is trapped and abused by her family. The hero's brother just makes everything worse. The heroine being offered to the hero as an insult is just the tip of the iceberg for insults she has to deal with. The heroine is a great help to show the international community that their country isn't too mired in tradition and inflexible. Despite the ways that she helps him accomplish his goals, the hero reverts to being an idiot when his brother arrives and tries to cause problems. I'm glad that after she got out of that bad situation, he was able to come to his senses and support his better half.

Collision Force (Crossing Forces 1) by C.A. Szarek

I won this book in a giveaway.

Heartwarming Story

5 out of 5 Stars

The bad guys got what they deserved and I'm glad that the girl they kidnapped was able to recover from being traumatized. The heroine's and hero's jobs make the story complicated and hard to maintain a relationship, but in the end they were able to become a blended family.

Under the Alpha's Protection by Doris O'Connor

Vampires, Werewolves, Hybrids, oh my!

4 out of 5 Stars

The heroine was a hard headed, stubborn girl. I find it interesting that the traits which frustrate her mate are the same ones that help save her. I found it a little hard to believe that he didn't have some kind of guard on her to protect her. The villain was a big surprise and I thought it was fitting that the heroine was the one to save them all. The news of the baby and how it helped save her was cool. I'm happy they figured it out and got their HEA. I just think that she let Raoul off pretty lightly after all the information he kept from her.

Would you recommend this book? Yes, it was a great read.

Early Release Day Review: Pack Council (Were Chronicles 9) by Crissy Smith

Interracial Relations

5 out of 5 Stars

I'm glad the shifters are finally sharing information as a community against their common enemy. I love the names of groups of animals (A group of bears are called sloths - priceless). This story definitely moved the plot along. The hero and heroine are a cute couple. Their best friends are mated to each other and set the couple up. I love the quips from their friends.

Release Day Review: True (New Species) by Laurann Dohner

Unexpected

5 out of 5 Stars

I'm sad to hear about the mating issues between the human males and female species. I'm hoping it works out. I'm also sad for Darkness and can't wait for his book to come out. The issues in Fuller are just a mess. I'm frustrated that the Species are still having issues with the (former) director and people are still not letting them self-govern. The task force needs to chill out and respect Species right to autonomy.

Part 2: A Werewolf Queen

A werewolf queen comes but once every thousand years. This human woman you are hiding is her. Packs are always stronger led by a queen. Others will try to kill her when they find out. Others will try to steal her and force her to mate. The stronger rules those who are weaker. She is the most powerful, not be cause she is strong, but because any can breed her. Usually when she is born, she becomes mated to the king. The king then allows the unmated alphas to visit and sire their heirs with the queen.

The alpha growled at the king " no way are you taking her," he narrows his eyes, "especially s a breeder". The alpha's eyes flash yellow, "you speak as if she should be your whore, not a mate."

"She is not my mate, yet. I simply state what has been done in the past. It has helped to keep the bloodlines, strong and pure."

"If that is the way you think, I will not allow you to take her. You deny her proper matehood, therefore, she will never be yours."

"And when she needs more than what you can give her," questions the king.

"I will meet with the other alphas wearing her scent. Their reactions will determine friend or foe. Those who are accepted by her will become allies. None, but ourselves know what she is."

"She has chosen those who are not alpha," the king points at the beta and pack doctor.

"After the alphas return to their territories, we will visit and watch for other candidates."

"You would be okay with sharing her with so many," the king queried. "Who would be her mate?"

"I did not say it would be easy," snarled the alpha, "all decisions are in her hands."

Release Day Review: Mate of Her Heart (Wilde Creek 1) by RE Butler

Interesting Twist

5 out of 5 Stars

You don't normally hear about human male, shifter female pairings. There were parts that were difficult, such as the brother's obtuseness and the consequences that spawned but overall, a great book. I can't wait for the sequel. I really love happy endings, especially those that beat the odds.
